SCVNGR // Location-based Mobile Game

SCVNGR is a location-based mobile game where players earn points and rewards by doing fun challenges at the places they visit.

I worked with major brands (Coca-Cola, Showtime, Buffalo Wild Wings, Warner Bros.) to design branded games on the SCVNGR platform. The goal of each game was to create a fun experience for customers, while engaging them with specific value points for the brand — new products, brand culture, etc.

My team discovered that the key to good game design was balancing the inherent fun of challenges with influential reward schedules. We developed funcionality like sweepstakes integration and email-based fulfillment for rewards that reduced the pain point of in-store redemption.
